Follow The Dales Trail to Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in England and detour over Surrender Moor to see some industrial archaeology including The Old Gang Lead Mine.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess who has a programme on Channel 5, is located at Ravenseat, 15 miles away from Reeth. Why not have a drive out and enjoy one of her Cream Teas, which she serves between Mid May and October, from Midday until 4pm, opening hours vary due to the unpredictable weather. Hopefully you might bump into Clive or one of Amanda Owen's children, I love Sid he is such a cutie. Who is your favourite?

This is James Herriott Country where both the TV Series and the film All Creaturs Great and Small were filmed. Askrigg is the location of the Drovers Arms. The bridge in  Langthwaite in Arkengarthdale is used as is the watersplash on the Arkengarthdale to Swaledale road.

Richmond, the Georgian Market Town is a short trip along the valley, where you will find Richmond Castle, the Georgian Theatre Royal, Easby Abbey, the Green Howards Museum and the The Station where you can sample local produce and enjoy a tasty meal or watch a film. Near to Richmond is Kiplin Hall and Middleton Tyan Lodge, both having fabulous gardens to explore. 

The market town of Leyburn is just a short drive over Grinton Moor with a selection of tearooms, restaurants and pubs. Stroll around a lovely selection of local shops or walk along the shawl with breathtaking views of Penn Hill and Wensleydale. Campbells is a local supermarket which is well worth a visit, with traditional butchery and Deli and extensive range of wine and spirits. Tennants Auction House has a lovely restaurant, tea room and function rooms which regularly cater for large weddings and hold regular events and auctions. Catch the train at the Wensleydale Railway and travel to Redmire and walk back along the shawl to Leyburn.
The Dark Skies Festival is held from 12 to 28 February 2021. This is all about discovering and enjoying the dark and the stars you can see. The Yorkshire Dales National Parks organize events around the dale, to learn about star constellations. Bolton Castle, Tan Hill and Keld Countryside and Heritage Center have organised events in our area for you to enjoy this fabulous experience.

Richmond Walking and Book Festival takes place in September 2021 and features a packed schedule of guided walks and other outdoor activties all around the Yorkshire Dales. There are also book events at weekends and evenings where you can meet authors and browse the excellent book fair. www.yorkshiredales.org


The Swaledale Festival is held from 29 May until 12 June 2021, this is when different performers come and entertain you at different locations across the dale - www.swalefest.org for more information.
Middleham is nestled between the two rivers, the River Ure and the River Cover. Middleham Castle is the home of Richard III and Middleham is famous for its rich horse racing heritage. A short drive from Middleham is The Forbidden Corner, a great day out for those young at heart, which also has a tea room and quirky restaurant, The Saddle Room.
